Volkswagen has launched its most powerful Beetle yet, capable of hitting 60 mph in seven seconds.

The Turbo S pumps out 180 bhp and uses the same 1,8 litre turbocharged engine as the Audi TT.

The model is only currently available in the US, but demand
is likely to be high enough for a European version.

Styling includes an aggressive-looking airdam and
redesigned indicators at the front, and new bumper and
chrome exhaust at the rear, reports Autoexpress.

The Turbo S also features unique 17-inch alloys as
standard and new paint schemes, stainless steel pedals,
heated sports seats and flower vase.

VW has included the Beetle‘s first six-speed gearbox to
optimise the increase in power and ESP stability control to
improve handling.

Definitely becoming available in Europe is a new diesel
Beetle model, with a 1.9-litre engine producing 100 bhp. It
is the same engine seen in the Bora and Golf.
